The Orchard
The orchard is situated on the east side of the market garden and forms a natural separation from the build-up area. When using the main entrance, just past MGR smetsstraat 30, a 300m long access road leads you through the orchard to the market garden. The orchard consists of 110 fruit trees. The fruit trees were planted in October and November 2016 when they were between 4 and 7 years old. The majority are tall fruit trees.
We love diversity and that is why we have planted more than 20 apple varieties, more than 10 pear varieties and 5 plum varieties. We have opted as much as possible for organically grown trees and varieties that are disease resistant. When we have enough harvest, we sell apples, plums and pears. We also make our own ecological apple juice from the apples, which is available on Wilma's terrace or in the packages of the cabanas. But the orchard also offers space for small fruit. We have planted more than 200 currant bushes consisting of red-, white- and goose berries, black current, Josta berries, American blue berries and Japanese wine berries. We also have 80 meters of raspberry hedge with summer and autumn raspberries. In season we offer self-picking for raspberries, red, black and gooseberry. The car can be parked under the tall fruit trees.
